Monthly Wine Tastings
NAAAWS members gather for tasting's monthly, typically on the third Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at member's homes, restaurants, and even HOA community rooms! Between 28 - 40 people attend each tasting. This can vary if the location is larger or smaller. You must be an active member of the American Wine Society to attend a tasting. Members may invite a guest to join them when there is space available.
What can I expect at a NAAWS Wine Tasting?
You will taste a minimum of six wines. A sparkling wine (which is not evaluated) is served as you gather. The AWS uses a specific scoring method for evaluating each wine served. The wines served are selected by the hosts around the theme they have chosen. Informal polling occurs to see which wines are preferred by the group. At the end of the tasting, the host will reveal the cost and source of the wines served.
Wonderful food! Our chapter hosts will serve light far to pair with the wines. The food may be served buffet style, by course, or family-style.
You will learn and make new friends. Conversation and laughter is always flowing at our NAAWS tastings.
Raffle Drawings! Members are encouraged to bring a bottle or other wine-themed item for our raffle drawings. The raffle proceeds go towards the AWS Education Scholarship.
